Demon hunter walkthrough and maps

This part of the walkthrough is BONUS STAGE after you choose to save Perna . If you are not yet there, DON’T spoil your game story but refer to previous parts of the walkthrough:

Part 1 – About Kamael and Dubaq

Part 2 – About Inferno

Part 3 – About Stigia and Cave of Darkness

Part 4 – About Gehena

Part 5 – About Distia

Part 6 – About Marlborose and Makerusia

Part 7 – About Arbenus

Part 8 – About Minauross

Part 9 – About Tower of Punishment/Sin

5 things to do here:

  1. Grind like there is no tomorrow
  2. Kill Asmodeus
  3. Kill Blood Demon
  4. Kill Renin
  5. Try to find a way to save Perna 😀

The last seems impossible.

I’ve killed every single possible monster and every boss monster in all 11 areas of the game.

No Perna.

No Portal different than the 3 portals leading to the hard boss monsters on all 11 maps.

Anyway:

Hell mode is accessible from Dubaq base – there is new purple gate.

From this gate, you can access the hellmode or get back to normal (small icon top right on screen will say “hell”).

Everything in Hell mode starts from level 66-67. Slimes west of Dubaq now take 7-8 hits to kill. Dumpas and Varians east of base are level 70-73.

Drops are 100 times more rare, but quality gets better. Even slimes drop level 60+ junk.

Hunt monster cards while grinding. There is one for every monster. Even bosses. At 30% you get another 3 cubics (get them from any vendor in camps).

There are 3 new hunter quests that you can take in the 3 bases. They are all level 8 hunter, so I hope you took my advice to get you hunter level up. It’s not hard.

The bossess are:

Asmodeus (Evil God) given by Evan in Dubaq.

Blood demon (Fallen wood king) given by Hotsan in Naru.

Dark Ren (Dragon within darkness) given by Diran in Talagaron.

… but you will need hours of grinding to be high level enough to kill them.

Grinding places

Map of Inferno

Map of Inferno

Grind in Kamael until you get to level 74-75. All areas are suitable.

After level 74-75, go to Inferno map Flame of fire Devil-1. There are 6 Murians in a line. They are Levels 75-80. Very quick grinding and good drops. Fastes way to get here is to transport to Arbenus and get west to inferno (just use the portal). One map with rocktashas (ignore) and one map with 8 drakes. Also good for grinding if you like to jump alot.

Levels 79-85 can better be done in Cave of Darkness. Cave of eternity-1 is the map where the transport scroll takes you.
Go east,  killing everything in the next 3 maps, until you reach the room where you saw Perna naked. Save and then go west.
Rinse and repeat. Kuro’s fall very fast, but the dwarves have high evade and you will miss a lot.
Lots of level 4 soul stones to replace the ones in you items.  Limit is +10 for level 4 stones, opposed to +7 on level 3:

Cave of Darkness map

Map for the Cave of Darkness

When level 86+, give a chance to two maps in Distia:

Outside of Canal-2 has 6 Varians in a straight line. Levels 90-95. Not hard to kill when 86+ at all. The map is one map east from the teleport point, so it is easy to reach too.

Heart of chaos-3 has 6 poisoning wacooms and 11 kuros. VERY good xp, but needs quite a lot of jumping to gather them together for a quick mass kill skill. The best path to reach this map is to teleport to Makerusia and use the gate back to Distia. You will appear in the room below Bormenta the guardian…, just get one map east and start killing. Drops are often good level 75+ weapons and lots of L4 stoicism and immunity stones.

You can train here until level 96. Then the XP will start to be insufficient and training – slow:

Map of Distia

Map of Distia

Next good map is Mouth of Hell-1. Use teleport to Tower of Punishment/Sin and you are there.

Tower Of Punishment

Map for Tower of Punishment (Tower of Sin)

6 Hell versions of Varians and 2 hell versions of Hellons. Very heavy damage, so be prepared to save a lot.

I don’t know why, but this grinding map gives some level 60+ stuff. It’s quite useless so sell it, destroy it or keep it for your alt characters.

You will also collect some armors and guns and a lot of L3 breath/blood sucking soulstones.

Rarely there will be a skill soulstone drop. Approximately 1/500 kills.

When fed with grinding, go kill the bosses.

Bonus Boss fights

(you don’t need to be in Hell to kill them – they are accessible in normal mode too)

The easiest to find is the giant tree which killed Chu. Just go west from Talagaron camp to the room of Greed. There is a portal leading to the tree demon

Blood demon

Not hard, but one mistake and you die.

(The map where Blood demon is, is accessible by a portal in the same room where you fought Greed the first time.)

  1. His root attack does very heavy damage (5k damage), so move a lot while attacking. If you can’t run fast enough from the roots – reduce game speed.
  2. Spider attack will come in 3 spiders hanging from strings and then dissolving. It hits for 3k damage and poisons.
  3. Stun shout and summon trees is next and the blood demon will start using root again. If the stun succeeds you are off for 10 seconds. Enough for 2-3 root attacks. Heal or you are toast.

Beware: His shout attack always follows the spider attack and he will glow his eyes while opening his mouth.

When you see his mouth wide open – start dashing away quickly. Can’t get stunned while dashing!

Return to Hotsan in Naru camp. 2000 hunter points and 3000 gold for completing Fallen wood king.

Asmodeus.

This demon has tons of HP and hits quite hard. Took 25 minutes with a slasher.

Small room with 1 platform located from a portal in Arbenus – Essence of Doom-8 (North part of Arbenus, the most west part of the long corridor).

Asmodeus will start showing from both sides and punch you.

If you stick to one side, he will stay on the same (most of the time). If you run, he will switch sides!

4 attacks:

  • Punch will do 3k damage and sometimes stun. Jump in the air when you see him aim with his fists.
  • Scratch does moderate damage – about 1.5-2k. Bearable.
  • Charge will do 6k damage and you probably can’t avoid it most of the time. (The sign is, he will disappear for few seconds to one of the sides and come back charging. Either from the same side or the other.) Slashers can block this attack and take only 600 damage.
  • Lightning bolts. This attack starts soon after Asmodeus drops a forked spear on the ground. Damage is heavy, but the lightnings are rare and you will probably get hit just once.

In all cases – jump alot to avoid the fist attacks and try to avoid being hit by “Charge“. It definitely sucks and stuns.

You can’t use menu button while fighting, so if you are stunned – drink potion and hope he will not use “charge” more than once.

Return to Dubaq camp and return the quest for 2000 hunter points and 3000 gold.

Renin

He is in a portal in Tower of Punishment-1. The portal is in the North-east corner. You can save safely in the next map before the battle.

Renin is a skeleton of a black dragon with few attacks. Be sure you wing is charged or will soon be, before you enter this battle!

  • Dragon bite. Very nasty attack that sometimes pushes you back.
  • Fireball. Jump over it to avoid damage or enter deep in his body, but beware – he often uses Dragon bite then.

When he is below 50% HP, he starts using his next attack:

  • Meteor shower. 1500 damage per meteor. Go to the left, Meteors don’t reach you there and heal. Get back and hit him hard. Repeat until he is near 10% HP.
  • Soon after he goes below 10% he will start hitting with meteors like insane and you can die really fast.

Go deep in his body and hit with everything you got.

  1. Hit the wing and keep kicking with all skills that managed to recharge while everything is slow.
  2. Don’t stop. Heal like mad and keep hitting with your best skills.
  3. If he is still alive after the wing’s time compression dissipates, you will probably fall.

Go back to Talagaron camp and return the quest for 2000 hunter points and 3000 gold.

That’s all you can do in Hell mode so far.

How to save Perna?!

I don’t know.

Please, drop me a mail, a comment or a letter if you know the answer.

  • I’ve grinded like an idiot for 39 levels after I killed Hanin and Elen.
  • I’ve killed all 3 major Bonus Boss monsters in Hell mode.
  • I’ve killed every single boss monster on all the maps.
  • I’ve killed every minor boss monsters for which there was hunter quest.
  • I’ve traversed ALL maps.

No Perna.

No Portal.

No Elen.

No nothing.

I’ve read forums from 2010, when there was discussion about “Saving Perna being included in later patch/update of the game”. One of my readers knows Korean and checked the developer’s forum too (they say, there is a rumor about Perna being saved somehow).

So – Please. If you know something that we missed – leave a message down below and I will include it inside this walkthrough:

Demon hunter combo system.

Android RPGs  Comments Off on Demon hunter combo system.
Feb 252012

This article is not about WoW’s Demon hunter, but for the game “Demon hunter: Return of the wing” for Android.

The combo system is not documented very good. Not in the game’s forum, neither in the ingame help.

It only says, that the combo system makes you stronger after each hit and some combos are effective against certain monsters.

Nowhere it is explained HOW to do a combo attack.

I’ve played the game for almost 200 hours now and wish to contribute to the community what I’ve learnt about the combo system:

The “C” button, will make your class skills:

If you are mage and hold it, a mana burn will charge. You can move to a position with many monsters and unleash the mana burn.

If you are mage and just press it, a small projectile will fire in short distance where you are facing.

  • Fireball if you have fire amulet. Splash damage.
  • Icebolt if you have water amulet. Slim chance of slowing down the opponent monster.
  • Lightning ball if you have light amulet. (this one holds for a second near you and then explodes). I think this one is the hardest to master.
  • Magic ball if you have NO amulet or neutral amulet without an element. Not entirely useless, but I suggest you focus on 1 or 2 elements.

If you are a shooter and hold the “Class” button a chain gun will charge. When unleashed, the chain gun will make massive continuous damage in front of you.

If you are shooter and press it, a small mark will start glowing on the nearest monster. All your “A”ttacks will now hit the monster, regardless you are above or below it. If you face in the opposite direction or the monster goes too far away – mark will be canceled.

Slasher‘s class skill is by far the most strong one and is issued only on holding the “C” button. Your slasher will hold the sword in front of him and parry all hits.

While parrying, the slasher takes only 10% of all damage. Regardless it is spell, skill, burn, projectile or a slash from a monster. Later, when you are more potent at level 51+, the master slasher skill will also block 30% of the damage for 6 seconds after you release the “C” button.

All the Class skills allow small steps to be done while holding the C button, but will be canceled if you walk too far or too fast.

All class skills also have 15 seconds cooldown time

Sword combos:

  • Dash-slash is done by left+left+A or right+right+A. It will go critical almost 100% of the time. It needs to be timed well, or the combo will not happen. A little harder to master than the other combos. VERY good to group monsters for mass skill finish.
  • Uppercut slash is done by pressing Down+Down fast. Very good against ALL light monsters like humanoids and varians. They will lay on the ground for 3 seconds and do nothing. Ineffective against heavy monsters, bosses and flying/hovering monsters like Hellons and Kuros.
  • Landing smash is done by Jump+Down or Jump+Jump+Down. This combo will almost 100% of the time trigger a blow attack, which will stun the monster for a while. You only need at least 1% on blow.
  • Uppercut Jump-slash is done by tapping Down+Down+A+A or Down+A+Down+A. First combo key-sequence will often take the monsters laying on the ground. The second combo key-sequence will finish the uppercut combo with Landing smash. A lot better for large groups. 100% critical and blow chance in this combo attack and so far, my favorite slasher attack ever. (some boss monsters like Hanin really hate this attack and will do his best skill (black dragon bite) on you, so don’t overuse it). Totally ineffective against Ice/Water/Cold monsters.
  • Dash Uppercut jump. A bit tricky, needs to time it right. Left+Left+Down or Right+Right+Down. If you don’t time it right, Gun will duck instead of Uppercut jump. This combo has all the qualities of Uppercut jump-slash, but is a bit more risky to do if you have not mastered it yet, because on failure, you are open and ducking in front of the monster(s) you are trying to kill. (I rarely use it because of this).

* So far, only my slasher can do the Uppercut Jump-slash. I don’t know if this skill is unlocked by higher hunter level or it is for slashers only. (will update later, when I complete the game with shooter and psychic)

Pistol/shotgun combos:

  • Shotgun. Invoked by Down+Down. Strangely undocumented. Took me a while to see how to shoot it. Always pushes the monsters back. Very effective to group them for mass skills. Used with your dot-mark, this skill can do quite a damage from afar. And if you are shooter and invest in Stunning skills, this combo also does blow+stun with 50% chance.
  • Jump shot. Invoked by Jump+Down. Very good for projectile shooting monsters, because they can’t hit you in the air. Ineffective against hovering mages like mules. They keep targeting you even in the air.

Moving combos:

You’ve probably already found them, but:

  • Dash is always done by Left+Left or Right+Right. Very effective for running away from shooters, especially if there are more than 2 and they gang on you. Very useful for timed quests, when you are on a short leash and can’t save.
  • Double jump. B+B. Useful for provoking Kuros to gang on you and then mass skill them.
  • Triple Jump. B+B+Skill+B. This one is quite tricky. And not ALL skill will do the job. Only skills, that are with fast animation such as slashing or shooting will make the 3-rd jump. This combo is used 3 times in the whole game, but you need to learn to do it, or you will never collect all the Treasure King relics and the best ingame amulet will never be yours.

This is by far all the combos that I’ve found while playing. (And I suspect there are at least 2 more combo skills, that are specific for shooters and psychics only)

Feel free to comment, If you have found more Combos that I have missed.

I will gladly add them here.

Demon hunter walkthrough and maps

This part of the walkthrough is after you get the “Battle!” quest . If you are not yet there, DON’T spoil your game story but refer to previous parts of the walkthrough:

Part 1 – About Kamael and Dubaq

Part 2 – About Inferno

Part 3 – About Stigia and Cave of Darkness

Part 4 – About Gehena

Part 5 – About Distia

Part 6 – About Marlborose and Makerusia

Part 7 – About Arbenus

Part 8 – About Minauross

3 things to do here:

  1. Get hunter level at least to 8! (if you are not level 10 already)
  2. Get to level 70 by grinding (sorry, again – only one quest)
  3. Kill 4 boss monsters (Sharas, Onyx, Elen, Hanin)

By entering the tower you are greeted by Elen and called ghost of the past. (This guy starts to annoy me … stay here and fight … chicken!)

Tower Of Punishment

Map for Tower of Punishment (Tower of Sin)

Start exploring and killing monsters. There are lots of chests laying around but no herbs and ores, so sell your picks to collect more stuff.

You will find some pillars with digits and lever up/down messages.

There is control room with 5 levers. Those levers need to be set the way the pillars say in order to open the doors.

For Door one, the columns say to set them in this order:

(Hall of Doom-1) 1-1 lever down.
(Hall of Doom-2) 1-2 lever up.
(Haven of Death-1) 1-3 lever up.
(Haven of Death-2) 1-4 lever down.
(Haven of Death-3) 1-5 lever down.

Door one is in Haven of Death-3. The room you are about to enter is a miniboss room with a stronger version of Kalax named Cold Sharas. She hits with the same pattern but her color  is purple and  her ice attack is 2-3 times stronger :). Get the hunter quest for her! You probably already exchange your hunter points for stuff in Talagaron base, so a little extra will not hurt. Fight sucks as much as with Kalax if you play as slasher. ~2400 for ice slash and 4500 for icicle fall.

For Door two, the columns say to set them in this order:

(Hall of Destruction-1) 2-1 lever down.
(Hall of Destruction-2) 2-2 lever down.
(Hall of Destruction-3) 2-3 lever up.
(Haven of Suffering-1) 2-4 lever down.
(Haven of Suffering-2) 2-5 lever up.

Door 2 is in Haven of Suffering-2. The adjacent boss room has stronger version of Count Peltos named Hell fire Onyx.  Quite weak boss. Can’t compare with Cold Sharas at all. 4 attacks.

  1. Fire column (just step back).
  2. Fire ball (simply endure it).
  3. Teleport (4k damage, just don’t get hit).
  4. Meteor shower (run away, heavy damage).

Takes 5 minutes to beat. Not hard at all.

When both boss fights are behind you, the doors in Tower of Sin-1 will open and you can continue up, but don’t rush it yet, because Here is also the last (12-th) piece of the relic in a chest in Haven of Death-2. Get it and return to Beros in Talagaron base. Don’t rush to return the quest

SAVE the game!!!

Return the quest for 20000 xp and 15000 gold. Have a good look at the relic. If you are not satisfied – load the saved game and return the quest again. (this is called re-rolling). The stats roll differently every time. The things that are always present are

  • +7 on all stats (STR, DEX, INT etc.),
  • Both defences +39-45,
  • +26 on all attack types.
  • Crittical chance +1%,
  • Blow chance +1%,
  • Evade chance (DOD) +3%.

There are up to 3 random bonuses over those 15. Sometimes there is a + on random skill. +1 to +3 if you are lucky.

As with all amulets, this one can carry any of the elements, so if you prefer to play Neutral, Fire, Cold or Light – you have another thing to watch and roll for.

The Amulet of the treasure King also always has 3 sockets for soul stones to enhance in case you are not completely happy with the stats.

Reroll 50 times if you want. It’s worth the patience. My choice was +9 on all stats, Fire element and a +1 Slasher’s Illusion skill. Took me about 120 rerolls. Be patient – IT IS worth your time.

(Mouth of Hell-1 is the best place to train Gun until level 68 if you are not sure you can handle Elen. After level 68, the experience will not be enough and you may try Hall of Doom-1 top ( 8 muttons) or Hall of Destruction-5 (6 ghosts). All level 65-66. Suitable for up to level 70, but quite slow and far. (you may still train with slower pace @ Mouth of Hell-1))

So, if/when fed up with rerolling, grinding and hunting, we can focus on

End game fight x 2

Your way to the Tower of Punishment-3 is open and you can enter the battle with Elen any time now. Whenever you feel ready. Elen is a level 70 battlemage.

You need additional preparation for this battle.

STORE ALL your gold in the network storage. Be sure you came here after you level up and don’t have much XP accumulated. (I will explain in a minute).

Elen fight

Perna will come to try to get him reconsider and another part of their past will reveal to you. Then the fight starts.

Elen will use ice spikes and fire pillar on you and when you go away to heal, he will follow and try to finish you.

Both attacks do considerable damage when you are inside their area of effect, so move and jump alot.

Rarely Elen will meditate and invoke Black dragon breath or will call Count Peltos for one meteor shower strike.

Duck to avoid the dragon breath or move away from the direction Count Peltos is facing.

If you are mid air when the dragon breath starts – use down+A to quickly land.

The fight with Elen is not hard. Bormenta, Kalax and Greed 2 take a lot more time.

After he is down, perna will come and hug him to death … no, just kidding :). Perna will hug him and they will disappear. After this a stronger version of Elen will come named Hanin.

Hanin is horned demon with the same wings like yours and very bad 4x black dragon bite doing 2500+ damage.

There is one trick I confirmed with the game forum.

When you succesfully kill Elen and start the battle with Hanin..

Die!

Use revival without using Cubics.

You will be transported outside and can save between the 2 battles, skipping Elen fight (yes, if you are killed by Hanin and reload, you need to fight Elen again). This way you can go to camp and stock with more purple potions. There are however 3 catches with this death:

  1. 20% xp loss
  2. 20% gold loss
  3. Can’t fight and use magic for 5 minutes.

But this is bearable if you followed my advice to come empty and just leveled.

Hanin fight.

The attack you need really to be watchful is the 4 x Black dragon bites.

All four do 1500-2500 damage and will attack from both sides. If you are slasher, use block (C button) when it starts. If you are not, I prefer you set game speed to lowest and do the following when this attack starts –> Dash right, dash left, dash right, dash left.

Doing this will probably let you take only 1 or 2 of all 4 hits. 4 hits = 6-10k damage. I doubt you can endure it, because at level 65-70 you have a little bit more than this.

The other attack is trivial Fire spill. Will have moderate fire damage and will be endurable. Pump Hanin with your Damage over time and heavy damage skills.

If you don’t want his 4 x Dragon bite often, there are only 2 things, that I confirmed to trigger this attack.

  1. Don’t Jump and
  2. Don’t get behind him

After you kick him a bit, Hanin will hover above and summon 2 crystal doors for breaking. While you break them, he will pump you with fire columns.

Damage is bearable, so you better heal and rebuff good.

When doors are broken he will come back down and keep biting you with the black dragon, until he is below 50%.

If  you make it that far – hard part is over 😉

After Hanin gets lower on health, he will stop using Black dragon bite x 4. (YAY!) He will now start using

  • Fire column ~ 900 damage and
  • Blizzard ~ 1000 damage.

Both attacks are tolerable and you can endure them while pumping him with high damage skills and drinking potions.

12000 xp for killing Hanin. Long dialog with the revived Greed and you are kicked in your old world with the option to get back and save Perna.

Choose “Yes” or you will need to kill Hanin again of you want to continue in Hell mode.

Back in Dubaq, you can finally save game and say “Phew, that was AWESOME fight!”

Hell mode

is accessible from Dubaq base – there is a new purple gate.

From this gate, you can access the hell mode or get back to normal (small icon top right on screen, above your wing will say “hell“).

Everything in Hell mode starts from level 66-67. Slimes west of Dubaq now take 7-8 hits to kill. Dumpas and Varians east of base are level 70-73. Drops are 10 times more rare, but quality gets better (I really liked Soul stone with +20 sword attack).

There are 3 new hunter quests that you can take in the 3 bases. They are all for level 8 hunter, so I hope you took my advice to get you hunter level up. It’s not hard. Just return the drops you got from grinding.

The Hell bosses are:

Asmodeus (Evil God) given by Evan in Dubaq.
Blood demon (Fallen wood king) given by Hotsan in Naru.
Dark Ren (Dragon within darkness) given by Diran in Talagaron.

… but I made this part too long already. Proceed to part 10 of the guide 😉 …

The hunter quests in the Tower:

Target Description/place Hunter points Gold
Hell’s witch Cold Sharas @ Haven of Death-4 1000 1200
